Implementation of the recommendation relating to the opening of FEICOM to the academia

On 15 April 2025, the General Manager was honoured with the invitation of Mr. Jean Jacques Kotto, Executive Director of the Special Higher School of Architecture of Cameroon (ESSACA), to give a lecture on FEICOM on the occasion of the implementation of the recommendation relating to the opening of the organization to the academia.

During the inaugural lecture, he presented the core duties of FEICOM, which are based on inter-council cooperation and national solidarity, with the aim of contributing to make Regional and Local Authorities a better place.

He also underscored the importance of the collaboration between FEICOM and ESSACA in addressing local development challenges. This collaboration should enable young architects to take into account local constraints and realities in their designs and to identify solutions to be implemented at the local level, especially within the framework of the decentralisation process.

He seized the opportunity to dish out some advice to the students to improve their performance, including a sense of discipline, observation, sensitivity to poverty, and humanism. He encouraged them to embrace the concepts of eco-responsibility and the fight against climate change.

The meeting was rounded off with a tour of projects completed by the students that might be of interest to local authorities and that could be finalised to make them bankable.

At the end of the visit, the General Manager reiterated his gratitude to the Executive Director of ESSACA and confirmed FEICOM’s commitment to implementing the areas of collaboration identified in the Memorandum of Understanding concluded between the two institutions.
