Collaboration between FEICOM and Electricité De France (EDF)
FEICOM and Électrcité De France (EDF) are exploring avenues of collaboration with a view to providing electricity services to Cameroonian RLAs.
On 6 February 2025, a working session was held in the meeting room of the Department of Cooperation between FEICOM and EDF officials, with the aim of identifying avenues of cooperation to strengthen electricity supply in our RLAs.
The Director of Cooperation seized the opportunity offered by the session to highlight the duties, scope of action and projects financed by FEICOM particularly in the field of energy, as well as the current major projects, such as the accreditation process to the Climate Change Adaptation Fund.
For their part, EDF officials indicated that Cameroon is considered as a country with strong specificities. This justifies this company’s commitment to diversifying its offer, especially the so-called Off-Grid offer (mini electrical networks, WIFI hotspots, solar energy based productive uses, solar home systems, etc.) with a focus on the GAINA Programme.
The discussions offered the opportunity to review aspects such as the risks of vandalism, the control of energy needs, criteria for selecting villages, taking into account the specificities of certain Regions, or the place of RLAs in the project architecture.
At the end of the day, interesting points of convergence were identified and will be further explored with a view to possible implementation in our RLAs.
