On 29 July 2026, FEICOM hosted the second meeting of the Steering Committee overseeing the implementation of the Smart Classrooms Project, reaffirming its commitment to advancing the digital transformation of secondary education across Cameroon.
Presided over by Mr Philippe Camille Akoa, General Manager of FEICOM and Chairman of the Steering Committee, this meeting brought together representatives of the Prime Minister’s Office, the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC), Promethean, the Ministry of Secondary Education, and the Presidents of the five participating Regional Councils and Regional Assemblies, namely Adamawa, North-West, West, South-West and South.
Building on the resolutions of the inaugural meeting, the Committee reviewed the progress achieved in project implementation, assessed the readiness of the beneficiary Regions for the financing and deployment phases, and validated the next operational milestones required to accelerate implementation. Discussions focused on governance, financing mechanisms, classroom readiness, institutional coordination and the roadmap leading to the deployment of smart classroom technologies.
As Cameroon continues its journey towards a digitally enabled education system, the Steering Committee remains a strategic platform for ensuring that implementation is coordinated, accountable and aligned with the country’s vision of providing future-ready learning environments for teachers and students
