Promoting effective bilinguilism at FEICOM: an interactive working session at the littoral Regional Agency

The Littoral Regional Agency of FEICOM in Douala received, on Monday, 14 September 2026, a delegation of the Bilingualism Team led by Madame Ngomo Juliette, Head of Delegation, for an interactive working session focused on the effective practice of bilingualism within the institution. The visit provided a valuable platform for dialogue and experience-sharing between the delegation and staff of the Regional Agency. Discussions centred on the level of implementation of bilingualism in the workplace, the practical difficulties encountered by employees in the daily use of both official languages, as well as possible areas for improvement. In an atmosphere marked by openness and active participation, employees were given the opportunity to freely express the challenges they face in carrying out their professional duties in both English and French. The exchanges also made it possible to identify practical concerns and explore ways of strengthening the effective use of the two official languages in the Agency’s day-to-day operations. The session was particularly interactive and enriching, with contributions from staff helping to provide a clearer picture of the realities encountered on the ground. The delegation, for its part, listened attentively to the various observations and concerns raised and encouraged continued efforts towards improving bilingual practices within the institution. Beyond assessing existing practices, the working session served as an opportunity to reinforce awareness on the importance of bilingualism as a key instrument for effective communication, inclusion, collaboration and quality service delivery. The visit therefore reaffirmed FEICOM’s commitment to fostering a professional environment in which both English and French are effectively used, while continuously identifying opportunities for improvement and strengthening staff capacities. The session ended on a positive note, with participants appreciating the quality of the exchanges and expressing their commitment to contributing to the continuous promotion and effective practice of bilingualism within FEICOM. Together, let us continue to promote bilingualism as a strength for better communication, greater inclusion and improved institutional performance.
